Laila was the main carer for my partner Vi for many years, mostly all day on Wednesdays which was my respite day. I could leave the house on those mornings with full confidence. Laila’s care for Vi was not only on an experienced professional level but also on a personal level. They quickly became close friends and Vi looked forward to the door bell ringing on Wednesday mornings and Laila’s big infectious smile. Laila’s care was full and complete; showering, dressing, cooking if needed, feeding, help with medication, medical appointments, entertaining with conversation and stories and outings to the beach and shopping centres. Vi’s life was happier because of Laila’s presence and we were both very grateful for that. Laila’s attitude was friendly and personal with Vi’s family and our friends giving us all a feeling of confidence that Vi was being looked after in the best possible way.
